Once you have taken the Salon Operator Certification course, it is extremely beneficial to take the Advanced Operator Training program. With the Advanced Training program, you are able to gain a deeper level of understanding and knowledge in important issues that face tanning owners and operators on a daily basis.
Each flight offers a different level of learning and is available to you online at any time. With the completion of all three flights, you will receive a certificate for earning your Advanced Operator Training certification.

You can become certified at any age, as long as you pass the Sun is Life examination after completing the course work. However, employability will depend on your specific state’s rules and regulations. Check with your local state authorities to find out the age restrictions for tanning salon operators.

Yes, all the material in the course is copyrighted, and we ask that you not share it beyond your personal use.

Length of time depends on the client. You can access the course and finish it in a matter of hours, or if you prefer to work on it little by little, you can choose that method as well. The possibilities are endless, the control is in your hands. Most people are able to read and complete the exam to the basic certification program in a matter of hours. Sun is Life is all about flexibility!

Pop-Up Blockers
You will need to disable pop-up blockers in your browser. Some blockers may be turned off on Windows by right clicking an icon on the system tray, next to where the clock resides. The most recent version of Internet Explorer has a built-in pop-up blocker. To configure your browser to enable pop-ups, see the directions below.

Go to Tools > Options or Firefox > Preferences.
Click on the Content tab.
Make sure the Block pop-up windows checkbox is not selected.

Download the Java plugin from http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp. This may take some time depending on the speed of your connection.
Choose Save File and save the file to your desktop.
Close your browser.
Double-click the file you downloaded in step 2 above and run the installation program, choosing all the defaults.
After you install Java, make sure that you have switched to the Sun Java Virtual Machine, as follows:
Open the Windows Control Panel by selecting Start > Settings > Control Panel. The Control Panel appears.
Locate and double-select Java Plug-in. The Java Plug-in Control Panel appears.
Select the Browser tab.
Under Settings, select the checkbox next to your browser.
Click <Apply> to save your settings.
Restart the browser.
Macintosh
If you are using Mac OS X, Java should already be pre-installed. Make sure the plugin is installed by following the steps below.
Open your hard drive.
Open the Applications folder.
Open the Utilities folder.
Open the Java folder.
Verify the presence of Java 1.3.1 Plugin Settings and Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.
It will be up to the state you move to whether or not they will still acknowledge/accept your current certification. You need to be certified in the STATE you are working in, not the State you live in.
Expiration of certification is evaluated by state. You will need to check with your state’s authorities to find out if and when your Certification expires.
For the Salon Operator Certification, each user will have Three (3) attempts to pass the Final Exam. Most states require a 80% to pass the Final Exam, while some will require higher.
For the Advanced Training quizzes, each quiz has up to 100 attempts to pass, but to be completed each quiz you must be pass the quiz at 100%.

To obtain a receipt for an online purchase, please submit a request on the contact us page. A customer service representative will contact you and provide you with a receipt for your purchase as soon as possible during normal business hours.
You can log out of the course at any time. However each time you logout and log back in you will need to navigate through the course to get to where you left off.
Always attempt to complete the Final Exam from start to finish in one sitting. If you get interrupted, do not close out of an Final Exam, you may experience technical difficulties and will not be able to continue that attempt at the Final Exam if you do.
Accounts are setup for each employee with their information. But if the Employer is paying for the course, the Employer can still input their payment method in the Billing section during checkout.
The Final Exam does not have a time limit. But it does have to be completed in one session.
There are no repercussions for failing the first attempt. However, after a second failed attempt, we suggest that employees work with their supervisor to prepare a strategy for passing the third time. This could include revisiting course materials, attending a lab, or retaking the course.
